Fish or golf? Golf or fish? Lake of the Woods vacation area provides ample opportunity for the avid fisher or golfer to do both! So pack those golf clubs right along side the fishing rod and get ready to begin the fishing and golfing experience of your lifetime! The rugged granite of the pre-Cambrian shield, pristine blue waters, rock drifts, swamps and trees – lots of trees – make for an interesting round of golf. Geography is everything in Northwestern Ontario, so flatland golfers will find new challenges at our courses.

The Lake of the Woods vacation area is home to four golf courses – each of them offering their own unique layout and challenge. At the south end of the Lake of the Woods is the newest golf course SPRUCE CREEK GOLF COURSE (9 holes) which opened in 2008. Located on Highway 619 just outside of Morson, this course offers rolling fairways and is said to have some of the best greens in the area. Heading north on Highway 71 or by water on Lake of the Woods, brings you to WHITE MOOSE GOLF COURSE just north of Sioux Narrows on Long Bay. It is a wilderness, 9 hole course that should be classified as “natural” with at least one water hole and some challenging approaches to the greens. Boat docking is available. Continuing north by vehicle on Highway 71 or by boat via Lake of the Woods, brings you to the KENORA GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB located on Golf Course Bay in Kenora just 5 minutes from downtown Kenora. The back nine holes were established in the 1920’s, the front nine in the 1980’s with changes and upgrading done in the early 2000’s. It is a full service golf club with lounge, restaurant, two PGA pros on staff, pull & motorized carts, golf club rentals. Boat docking available. www.kenoragolf.com

20 minutes north of Kenora on Black Sturgeon Lake is Beauty Bay Golf Course built by a lone entrepreneur Nine holes were carved out of the wilderness in the 1980’s and another 9 in the 1990’s. The course is maturing and the irrigation system was completed in 2001. It offers tricky greens, elevation changes, gorgeous views. It offers a small clubhouse and lounge, power & pull carts.
